It's time for some fun! As a thank you to all my students as well as people that have volunteered at trials, donating their time, energy and costs for travel, etc., we are hosting a fun, low-cost practice event. This is also a fundraiser for a community bus shelter the church is building on their property. 75% of the entry fees (after expenses) will be donated to this project.

There are 2 parts to this event: Room decoration and Judging (10 rooms) and then Dogs searching the decorated rooms (limit of 30 dogs total). You may participate in either or both.

ADOPT-A-ROOM

RULES FOR ROOM DECORATING CONTEST

This is a chance for you to decorate one of the search areas in a fun, themed way. Depending on how many people are interested, you may be assigned with other people.

If you are interested, e-mail me at scatnwevents@gmail.com to get a room assignment. If there is a class or group that want to be together, that is great. I will send you a photo of your "naked" room. You may use what is already in there and add your own decorations, or pull stuff out. The room just has to  match the "before" photo of the room when you leave.

Yes, there are rules. I know how crazy you guys can be.

1. No animals (alive... or not...)

2. No open food (and no food at all in lower level rooms)

3. Nothing obviously scary to dogs or people. Of course we never know what will spook dogs, but no trench-coated mannequins with hats or arms that swing. Use common sense.

And remember, the priority is to treat the facility in a non-invasive, respectful way.

Some ideas are:

Tool Time: shop tools, shop vac, saw horses, some scraps of wood

Day at the Beach: Sand toys and buckets, cooler, small shade umbrella

Pet Shop: Dog toys, beds, small crates and closed bags of treats (this will be an advanced search)

Going on Vacation!: suitcases, travel bags, posters

Be creative, have fun with your friends, and compete for prizes!

DOG SEARCHES

All searches will be interior/container hybrid searches of the decorated rooms. There will be 2 levels:
Elementary Searches: All Birch or Birch combos. No intentional distractors. Known # of hides. Generous times.
Advanced Searches: All 3 odors. May have search specific rules (such as a speed search, can't go back to areas, etc.) There may be intentional food or toy distractors. Unknown # of hides (although, as always in fun matches, you can ask)

No Primary or Paired Hides this time, sorry.

Schedule:

7:30 am. Room decorating will start
8:30 am Room decorating is over
I am the only one setting hides, so then I will set hides

9:30 am  There will be a walk through of all rooms so competitors can judge the decorations.

10:00 am - about 4:00 pm Dogs will run. The rooms will be split up so the Elementary Searches are in half the rooms, and the Advanced Searches are in the other half. Both will run at the same time.

Sorry, payment and registration are separate. Beyond my abilities at this moment :)

Please enter ONLY one search level for each dog, and a maximum of 2 dogs per person. This allows more people to play.
$40 for either level (4-6 searches)
You may pay using PayPal or mail me a check:
